Chamber Space Enterprise Council Elects Boeing's Jones as Chair and Lockheed Martin's Madison as Vice Chair

WASHINGTON, DC – The United States Chamber of Commerce Space Enterprise Council today announced the election of Matthew Jones as its new chairman and Earl Madison as vice chairman for 2006.

"As manager of Air Force Space Systems for Boeing, Matthew Jones has worked on programs spanning virtually every segment of the space industry. His service as vice chairman of the council last year and his involvement in its activities for the past three years make him a perfect fit as chairman," said David Logsdon, executive director of the Space Council. "Earl Madison brings several years of experience to the council having served as director of Space Systems and Operations for Lockheed Martin Corporation, and in his final assignment as the chief of staff of the National Security Space Architect Office. We have an ambitious agenda for this year and are grateful for the wealth of knowledge and experience that they bring to the table."

Jones and Madison will help the Space Enterprise Council achieve the following
priorities for 2006:

• Supporting the President's Vision for space exploration by endorsing robust funding for NASA through grass tops and grassroots advocacy efforts.
• Stressing private sector capabilities and opportunities in the implementation and formation of commercial, civil, and national security space policy.
• Promoting the role of U.S. industry in the advancement of space related research and development, the exploration of space, and expansion of commercial space markets.
• Increasing public awareness of the contributions of space to U.S. prosperity and the need for the American education system to encourage technical studies.
