Chamber-Led Coalition Earns Recognition for Its Global Anti-Counterfeiting and Piracy Efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce-led Coalition Against Counterfeiting and Piracy (CACP) was recognized for its efforts to end the scourge of global piracy and counterfeiting. CACP Chairman Paul Fox of Gillette received the award in Paris during Global Anti-Counterfeiting Day.

"Counterfeit and pirated goods cost the global economy more than $500 billion, threaten public health and safety, kill jobs and investment, and destroy valuable brands," said David Hirschmann, Chamber senior vice president. "Today's recognition confirms that we are on the right path and helps raise awareness of our struggle in this important fight."

The CACP was specifically recognized for its work in the Associations category during the eighth annual Global Anti-Counterfeiting Awards ceremony sponsored by Authentication News™, published by Reconnaissance International, and the Global Anti-Counterfeiting Group (GACG). The awards recognize groups that have made extraordinary contributions to the campaign against the trade in fakes.

The CACP is a coalition of more than 170 businesses and associations that is committed to increasing the understanding of the negative impact of counterfeiting and piracy by working with Congress and the administration to drive greater government-wide efforts to address this threat.

The U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
