U.S. Chamber Calls on Senate to Quickly Approve Mary Peters as DOT Secretary
WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Chamber President and CEO Tom Donohue released the following statement on the nomination of Mary Peters to be Secretary of Transportation:
"Mary Peters is an experienced transportation expert who deserves speedy confirmation by the U.S. Senate. She possesses the right mix of skills, knowledge, and political acumen to conquer the growing list of transportation problems confronting the nation, including funding shortfalls and new security threats. Mary understands that a safe, well-maintained, and technologically-advanced transportation system is key to America's economic growth and global competitiveness.
"Mary is the right choice at the right time to lead our nation's transportation system. As the former head of the Federal Highway Administration and a longtime leader in Arizona's transportation community, it would be a pleasure to welcome Mary back to Washington, D.C."
