Chamber Launches New Study for Increased U.S.-Africa Investment
WASHINGTON, D.C.-The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today announced a groundbreaking international project to probe the factors that constrain U.S. investment in Africa. The Chamber is conducting this project in conjunction with Baird's CMC, an international communication management consultancy based in South Africa. This will be the first CEO-level project of U.S industry aimed at addressing the challenges of doing business in Africa.
"This project will function as the springboard for a dynamic dialogue between both U.S. and African entrepreneurs and government leaders," said Daeman Harris, the Chamber's vice president for Middle East and Africa. "We want to get to the bottom of the issues that either encourage or dissuade U.S. investment in Africa."
The framework for this project is designed with to include confidential interviews with U.S. business leaders on a number of global business strategies. The insights of leaders in the U.S. investor community will be shared with both African business leaders and government policy makers to initiate a more frank discussion about the barriers of doing business on the continent. The results of the study will be published and discussed in an open forum.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
