U.S. Chamber Applauds Obama's Nomination to Lead Small Business Administration

Revitalizing Small Business Critical to U.S. Economic Recovery

WASHINGTON, DC—U.S. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director of Small and Mid-Market Business Councils Giovanni Coratolo issued the following statement on President-elect Barack Obama's selection of venture capitalist Karen Mills to lead the Small Business Administration (SBA):

"Karen has an excellent track record of understanding what small and emerging businesses need to be successful. Small businesses are the backbone of the U.S. economy and they're currently facing a myriad of challenges.

"To help small businesses endure these economic headwinds, they need a leader who brings a record of bipartisanship to Washington. This is exactly what President-elect Obama has offered in Karen Mills. We look forward to working with her on policies that will advance the needs to these businesses and entrepreneurs.

"The SBA has vastly improved its delivery of services in recent years and we hope that Karen can build on this success to help revitalize small businesses across the country."

The U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
