U.S. Chamber Endorses Jim Oberweis for Congress

Candidate an Ally to Business Community

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States Chamber of Commerce yesterday announced its endorsement of Jim Oberweis, candidate for Congress (R-IL-14), praising his strong support for Illinois businesses, both large and small.

"As a business owner, Jim Oberweis understands what it means to meet a payroll. He shares our view that more taxes and government regulation stifle our economy and make it harder to grow jobs," said Bill Miller, Chamber senior vice president and political director. "Electing pro-business candidates has been and will continue to be one of our top priorities, and Jim Oberweis represents the kind of legislator and advocate we need on Capitol Hill."

In the last several years, the U.S. Chamber has played a major role in national elections, endorsing candidates that have demonstrated support for business priorities and a commitment to advance a pro-growth agenda in Congress. In the upcoming 2008 election the Chamber will devote significant resources to numerous Senate and House races, working with its member affiliates to hold fundraisers, educate citizens, and organize get-out-the-vote efforts.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
