U.S. Chamber Names Tita Freeman Executive Director for Communications and Strategy

WASHINGTON, D.C.-The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today named Tita Thompson Freeman as Executive Director, Communications and Strategy. In her role, Ms. Freeman will help drive the Chamber's communications strategy and oversee new media, member communications, marketing, and web content.

"Tita brings the skills and strategic background that will help the Chamber increase the business voice in Washington and across the nation," said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Tom Donohue. "She will be instrumental in helping strengthen our world-class communications operation."

Freeman joins the Chamber from Google's Washington office, where she was a full-time consultant with the Global Communications and Public Affairs team and put in place the company's first strategic outreach plan for engaging with Washington trade associations and interest groups.

Prior to Google she was Director of Communications for the Business Roundtable, an association of CEOs of leading U.S. companies, where she led communications efforts on critical business issues including trade, health care, corporate governance, education, fiscal policy, energy and the environment. While at the Roundtable, Freeman was instrumental in raising the organization's profile nationally.

In 2007, Donohue tapped Tom Collamore, Senior Vice President for Communications and Strategy and Counselor to the President, to help further the Chamber's communications programs and help increase its position as the leading voice of business. According to Collamore, "Freeman joins a communications team with a proven track record and will focus on the Chamber's new Five-Year Plan www.uschamber.com/sab/agenda that is designed to strengthen the middle class and keep America competitive in the 21st century."

Before Freeman's work with Google and the Business Roundtable, she directed communications for the Corporate and Federal Markets division of LexisNexis and managed domestic communications strategy for Teligent. She began her professional career with APCO Worldwide, a global public affairs firm.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
