WASHINGTON, D.C.–- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today named Danny Sebright president of the US-UAE Business Council. In this role, he will lead the council’s efforts to deepen valuable commercial ties between the United States and the United Arab Emirates. 

 

In a joint statement, US-UAE Business Council Board Co-Chairs Joseph E. Robert, Chairman and CEO of J.E. Robert Companies, and Khaldoon Al Mubarak, CEO of Mubadala Development Company said, “As investment flows and trade between the two countries rapidly expands, so too must the capacity and membership of the council.  Danny’s foreign policy and Middle East experience will bring the council to a new level – in policy advocacy, trade promotion, and business development.” 

 

“I am thrilled to receive this amazing opportunity to help build and grow this new and critically important institution,” Sebright said.  “The UAE is a close friend and partner of the U.S. and the Business Council’s role will be to broaden and deepen the commercial and business ties between our two countries.”

 

Sebright joins the council from The Cohen Group, a global strategic consulting firm based in Washington.  As the firm’s vice president he was responsible for building its Middle East and India practice groups, developing new business, and leading various client service teams.  Sebright will remain affiliated with the firm as a counselor.

 

Prior to The Cohen Group, Sebright served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon where he managed U.S. defense relationships with key allies in the Middle East.  Earlier, Sebright spent ten years at the Defense Intelligence Agency living and working in the Middle East, India, and Africa. 

 

Representing more than 50 companies, the US-UAE Business Council is the leading advocate for building commercial relationships between the two countries. The council works closely with the American Business Group of Abu Dhabi and the American Business Council of Dubai and the Northern Emirates, both affiliates of the US Chamber of Commerce.  Formally established in May 2007, the council is affiliated with and housed at the US Chamber.
