U.S. Chamber President Stresses the Importance of the U.S.-Russia Economic Relationship     
Co-chairs Roundtable at St. Petersburg Economic Forum

ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA-U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue today co-chaired a roundtable discussion at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.  The roundtable, consisting of leading American and Russian CEO's, examined what's needed for the U.S.-Russia economic relationship to succeed in the 21st century.  The roundtable was co-chaired with the Russian Union of Industrialists.

 

"Russia and the United States already do significant business together. With the right policies from both Washington and Moscow, we can do a lot more," said Donohue. "American companies are eager to be full and equal participants in Russia's thriving economy. We can help Russia diversify while also strengthening its energy sector. By doing so we will create good American jobs back home and enhance global energy security." 
     
During his three day stay in the country, Donohue met with Russian ministerial and business leaders as well as heads of U.S. industry.  The meetings focused on issues including energy, trade, intellectual property, and Russia's integration into the global economy. Donohue's participation at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum wraps a weeklong trip which included a keynote address at Sweden's American Chamber of Commerce in Stockholm.
