U.S. Chamber Offers Solutions for the New President- Whoever it May be
"Dear 44" Partners with CAP and Politico for Issues Debate

WASHINGTON D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has launched Dear 44 a new ongoing online debate about the best solutions to the problems facing the nation. The program is in partnership with the Center for American Progress (CAP) and is hosted by the Politico newspaper.

Every Monday leading up to Election Day, Politico will showcase a different challenge or issue that the new president will have to face- regardless of who he is or which party he is a member of. Issue experts from both the Chamber and CAP will offer analysis on how best to address the issue and then readers will have the chance to offer their own analysis in an online forum.

"At the Chamber we are serious about politics but, like the businesses we represent, we are even more serious about solving problems," said Thomas J. Donohue, the Chamber's president and CEO.  "By partnering with CAP and acknowledging from the get-go that we often see the world in different ways, we hope we can reignite a serious and mutually respectful debate about the best solutions to the problems we face.  Washington can either struggle along with the polarization that has resulted in paralysis on some of our key issues or we can try to talk through our concerns and come up with better solutions than we may have had on our own. We hope Politico's readers across the country will join the conversation and we expect the campaigns and candidates to pay attention too."

Dear 44 is published every Monday morning in the Politico and will cover topics ranging from tax policy to immigration reform to what to do or not do in Iraq. The online debate can be found at www.politico.com under "ideas."

The U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
