U.S. Chamber Energy Institute Touts Role of South Dakota's Energy Resources
SIOUX FALLS, SD – Stephen D. Eule, vice president for Climate and Technology at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21st Century Energy, today addressed over 200 regional business leaders on the importance of the next administration and Congress adopting a comprehensive, long-term energy strategy.
"South Dakota is a microcosm of America's diverse and abundant energy resources," Eule said at the South Dakota Annual Economic Outlook Seminar in Sioux Falls. "From wind energy and hydropower, to geothermal resources, regional coal supplies, and feedstock for biofuel production, the country must capitalize on energy resources like those in South Dakota."
Eule will also deliver remarks tomorrow to members of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce at the Rapid City Best Western Ramkota at 9:30 a.m. MDT.
"With domestic demand for energy expected to grow by as much as 30 percent by 2030, our nation needs a roadmap to spur investment in a variety of energy resources, improve efficiency, and strengthen our energy delivery infrastructure," Eule said. "We must plan for our energy future today and adopt policies that will grow our economy and keep our nation secure and our environment clean for future generations."
Last month, the Institute released a Blueprint for Securing America's Energy Future, which lays out more than 75 energy policy recommendations to the next president and Congress. These recommendations aim to generate new supplies, new technologies, and new American jobs as well as promote cutting-edge technology solutions to our long-term challenges.
