U.S. Chamber Praises Senate Action on Financial Rescue Bill
"Now is the time for the House to put partisan differences aside and the American people first," Josten Says
WASHINGTON, DC—Following the Senate's action today to pass the financial rescue bill, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Executive Vice President of Government Affairs R. Bruce Josten issued the following statement:
"The Senate took a major step toward stabilizing the economy today by supporting an economic recovery package combined with important tax extenders. Now is the time for the House to put partisan differences aside and the American people first. They must follow suit and pass this bill.
"This bipartisan effort would not have been possible without the cooperative efforts of Senate Major Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senators Chris Dodd and Judd Gregg. They showed real leadership tonight by putting the national interest first and acting quickly to address an impending storm."
The U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
