U.S. Chamber Responds To Partisan Comments
Shows Support for Pro-Growth and Pro-Economy Candidates
WASHINGTON, DC— The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Executive Vice President of Government Affairs R. Bruce Josten issued the following statement today, reiterating the Chamber's support for pro-growth and pro-economy candidates:
"It's a shame that Senator Schumer would try to turn our pro-jobs, pro-growth agenda into a partisan issue for his campaign purposes – especially at a time when our nation needs leadership and unity in Washington.
"For nearly 100 years the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has advocated for America's businesses and workers, the backbone of our economy. We remain a pro-growth and pro-jobs organization that strictly supports members of Congress and candidates from both parties who work toward these goals.
"Last week was a clear example of how the U.S. Chamber, representing over 3 million businesses of all sizes, worked with both Democrats and Republicans to pass the rescue legislation and take an important step toward getting our economy back on track. It's clear that for some that spirit of bipartisanship was quickly lost.
"The U.S. Chamber is focused on eliminating barriers to economic growth. To that end, we support candidates and policies that will reduce government waste, reduce taxes, and eliminate lawsuit abuse."
The U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
