Chamber Welcomes Eurochambres & their Members to DC

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue, Chamber Senior Trade Advisor Leslie Schweitzer, and Chamber Vice President for Europe and Eurasia Mark Esper today kicked off a three-day agenda to introduce the Eurochambres and their member chambers to the new administration and Congress, and Washington, DC. institutions and policy experts.

"Considering the global downturn in trade, projected to be highest in decades, we need a robust transatlantic partnership," said Schweitzer. "The U.S.-E.U. relationship is the most integrated and symbiotic trade relationship of our global partnerships. We must work together to escape our current situation and to embrace a greatly improved climate in the future."

The delegates, representing the United Kingdom, Spain, Finland, France, Serbia, Germany, Luxemburg, and Italy, will meet with members of both the House and Senate regarding homeland security, trade, immigration and financial issues, including 100% scanning, customs, and visa waivers. The goal is to create relationships between the public and private sectors of the U.S. and the E.U. to promote synergies in policy.

"The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is pleased to work with Eurochambres in strengthening the transatlantic dialogue as we work for a more robust and integrated economic partnership between the U.S. and EU," Esper stated.

The U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business federation representing more than
3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
