U.S. Chamber and Russian Counterpart Highlight Plan to Extend Economic Cooperation

WASHINGTON, DC— The U.S. Chamber of Commerce joined the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), a non-governmental organization with more than 328,000 members representing a broad cross-section of industries and regions in Russia, today to issue a joint statement aimed at extending and strengthening long-term cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. Highlights included:

- Adding a strong economic and business component to the "reset" of the U.S.-Russian relationship;
- The business communities working with the governments to prevent protectionist tendencies from ruining our chances of emerging from the current global economic crisis;
- Allowing the business community to routinely and significantly plug into the intergovernmental process between the U.S. and Russia; and
- Ensuring transparency and predictability for investments as a part of the business dialogue.
