U.S. Chamber and African Leaders Discuss Youth Empowerment and Economic Opportunity
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will bring together American business and government officials with young African business and civic leaders tonight to discuss youth empowerment, good governance, and economic opportunities across Africa. The night’s event comes on the heels of the young leaders’ participation in today’s presidential forum at the White House.
“The American business community understands Africa’s important role on the global stage and our members stand ready to invest in the future of these young leaders,” said Scott Eisner, executive director of the Africa Business Initiative at the U.S. Chamber. “Africa’s economic potential is enormous, and we’re just scratching the surface of what’s possible.”
Tonight’s reception is part of a Chamber effort to forge stronger, forward-looking partnerships in the years ahead. In January of this year, the Chamber’s Africa Business Initiative launched a five-day trade mission to the region to encourage, promote, and facilitate trade and investment between the United States and the emerging continent.
The U.S. Chamber’s Africa Business Initiative (ABI) engages the U.S. business community on legislative policies that foster foreign direct investment in Africa, facilitates trade between the United States and African countries, and introduces U.S. companies to the continent’s vast economic opportunities.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
