Stan Anderson Tapped to Lead U.S. Chamber's Campaign for Free Enterprise
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today announced that Stanton D. Anderson, senior counselor to president and CEO Thomas J. Donohue, will take on the role of managing director of the U.S. Chamber's Campaign for Free Enterprise. Anderson will assume responsibility for the coordination of strategy, communications, advertising, educational outreach, and national events. He will work with business, academic, trade association and government leaders, as well as other stakeholders to promote the campaign.
"Stan brings decades of leadership experience to one of the most significant efforts in the Chamber's nearly 100-year history," said Donohue. "I have no doubt he will be an effective leader for the Campaign as the Chamber continues to broaden and deepen its efforts to educate Americans on the benefits of free enterprise."
In addition to his new responsibilities, Anderson will continue to act as senior counselor to Donohue, a position he has held for five years. In this role, he has led Chamber efforts for improved international regulatory cooperation and organized a broad-based coalition for legislation dealing with attorney-client privilege.
In 1981, before joining the Chamber, Anderson started his own law firm, Anderson, Hibey, Nauheim and Blair. In 1995, he joined the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery. While he was a partner at McDermott, he served as executive vice president and chief legal officer of the Chamber, setting the Chamber's legal reform strategy and chairing the successful effort to pass class-action reform legislation.
"I am highly confident that Stan is well positioned to build upon the excellent foundation developed by the Campaign's leadership to date, and to lead it to a new level of impact," said Donohue.
