U.S. Chamber Endorses Griffin for Congress in Arkansas

"A Commitment to Fighting for the State's Business Interests," Miller Says

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today the U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced its endorsement of former U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin for Congress in Arkansas, praising his commitment to supporting the state's businesses and workers.

"We're endorsing Griffin because of his commitment to standing up for the people of Arkansas," said Bill Miller, the U.S. Chamber's senior vice president and political director. "He is an invaluable leader on important business issues. We're confident that while in Congress, Griffin will look out for businesses of all sizes."

A strong opponent of onerous new energy taxes on Arkansas' job creators, Griffin also supports a workers right to a secret ballot election in union organizing drives. Throughout his campaign, Griffin has committed to opposing any taxes that put American businesses at a competitive disadvantage in the global economy.

"On issues ranging from lowering taxes to controlling the cost of energy in the state, Arkansas' businesses and workers will have no better friend in Washington than Tim Griffin," Miller said.

The U.S. Chamber plans to play a major role nationwide in the 2010 elections, endorsing candidates who have demonstrated support for business priorities and will work to advance a pro-growth agenda in Congress. In 2008, 213 of the 265 Chamber-endorsed candidates (81%) were elected.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
