U.S. Chamber Praises Gov. Schwarzenegger’s Veto of Card Check Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue issued the following statement in response to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s veto of California’s agricultural card check bill:
“Governor Schwarzenegger did the right thing by shutting down this attempt to impose card check union organizing drives through the back door. With this job-killing legislation having stalled at the federal level, labor unions are seeking any alternative possible to subvert workplace democracy by making it easier to use card check drives. Fortunately, the Governor has told them ‘not here.’”
Last month, Donohuesent a letter to Gov. Schwarzenegger asking him to veto the bill.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
