U.S. Chamber Calls on Senate to Focus On Jobs for Americans, Not Partisan Games
WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President for Government Affairs R. Bruce Josten issued the following statement today in response to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s indication that he will move to consider the same version of the DISCLOSE Act that failed 57-41 this past summer:
“It is utterly senseless for the Senate to take up a partisan campaign bill designed to protect their own jobs rather than using their limited remaining time on policies that help create jobs for the American people. By ignoring the economy, failing to protect taxpayers from looming tax increases, and choosing to focus on stifling the free speech of those who disagree with them, senators who support the DISCLOSE Act will send a very clear message to voters about their priorities.”
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
