U.S. Chamber's Conrad Among Washington's Most Influential In-House Attorneys

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today congratulated Robin S. Conrad, executive vice president of the National Chamber Litigation Center (NCLC), for being named among Washington’s Most Influential In-House Attorneys by the editors of The National Law Journal (subscription).

“Robin has played an instrumental role in helping courts around the country to understand the business community’s perspective on some of the most pressing issues of our day,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “She has taken the Litigation Center’s Supreme Court practice to new heights, and has ramped up the Chamber’s party litigation, taking the fight over burdensome and unlawful regulations to the courts.”

Under Conrad’s leadership, NCLC advocates the business point of view in the courts on issues of national concern to the business community. She has stepped up NCLC’s Supreme Court practice, and taking a more strategic approach to shaping the law in areas such as punitive damages, class actions, federal preemption of inconsistent state laws, and securities litigation. NCLC participated in a record number of Supreme Court cases during the 2010-2011 Term, helping to secure important victories for the business community in diverse areas of the law including class action reform, reining in frivolous securities litigation, federal preemption of products liability suits, the preservation of arbitration as a fair and efficient alternative to costly litigation, and the misuse of the public nuisance doctrine.

The National Law Journal’s selection of awardees was based upon reporting over the past year and nominations from peers in the Washington legal community.
