U.S. Chamber Says Ford, UAW Agreement Increases American Competitiveness

WASHINGTON, DC—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue issued the following statement today following the announcement of a tentative labor agreement between Ford and the United Auto Workers:

“A linchpin to helping America compete in the global economy is going to be business and labor finding areas where we can work together. Both sides understand what is at stake for the American economy and are rising to the occasion and strengthening our global competitiveness.

“Ford and the UAW both think this is a good agreement and we think it is good for America’s manufacturers. Let’s make this kind of balanced agreement in Detroit a foundation for moving forward bipartisan, job-creating policies in Washington.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
