U.S. Chamber Joins the Care Continuum Alliance to Highlight Workplace Wellness Programs
WASHINGTON, D.C. —The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Care Continuum Alliance to showcase successful collaborations between employers and health and wellness program providers at the Care Continuum Alliance’s annual meeting, The Forum 11, in San Francisco this week.
“Employees who participate in workplace wellness programs are more fit, productive, and smarter about health care risks,” said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue in recorded remarks at the event. “Employers get a good return on their investment. In fact, wellness programs can reduce medical and absenteeism costs significantly.”
A goal of the conference is to highlight for employers the value of engaging in innovative wellness and chronic care programs and solutions. While providing health insurance coverage to nearly 170 million Americans, employers have long focused on ways to improve care quality and outcomes while also reducing preventable costs for healthy employees as well as those with chronic conditions.
“No one better understands the need to improve health and reduce chronic disease risk than our nation’s employers,” Care Continuum Alliance President and CEO Tracey Moorhead said. “Employers have led wellness and prevention efforts for years and understand that healthy workers are the key to a productive workforce and economic security.”
