U.S. Chamber Launches Multistate Voter Education Ad Blitz
‘We’re Engaging Earlier and More Aggressively Than Ever,’ Donohue Says
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today launched a multistate television ad and grassroots communications blitz in 12 House Congressional Districts and in 8 states with 2012 Senate races. The effort will create a contrast between leaders who stand up for either big government or free enterprise policies by highlighting issues impacting the economy, job creation, and economic growth.
“We’re engaging earlier and more aggressively than ever to educate constituents about which leaders recognize the role free enterprise plays in leading our economic recovery,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “It comes down to a simple question: is big government or free enterprise the solution to our country’s economic problems?”
In addition to a grassroots mobilization and online efforts, the Chamber’s 2012 communications effort will include TV ads, launching today in 16 states and more than 40 media markets (the ads are available here). These ads will hold many incumbent lawmakers accountable for their votes in Congress, as rated in the Chamber’s How They Voted scorecard. The Chamber’s 2011 rankings will be released this March.
“American families deserve to know who has the courage to fight for job-creating policies in Washington and who is hurting their pocketbooks,” Donohue said. “We’re asking the public to hold members of Congress accountable for their positions on Obamacare, job-killing regulations, energy security, and a culture of wasteful spending in Washington.”
