U.S. Chamber Names Renfro Foods of Fort Worth Finalist for 2012 Small Business of the Year Award
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today named Renfro Foods, of Fort Worth, TX one of seven finalists for the 2012 DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Sam’s Club®. Renfro Foods will be honored during America’s Small Business Summit, May 21–23, in Washington, D.C., where a national winner will be announced and will receive a $10,000 cash prize, courtesy of the U.S. Chamber.

Renfro Foods, Inc. is a family run co-packing, manufacturing, and foodservices business, also known for its salsas and relishes sold under the Mrs. Renfro’s food label. Founded by George Renfro in 1940 and now run by second and third-generation Renfros in Fort Worth, TX, the business is known for its exceptional employee practices, including access to a loan program, education allowance, 401(k) plan with 3% matching, and free salsa, among other benefits. Renfro Foods is a long-standing civic leader, donating time and money to local, state, and national organizations. They raised over $80,000 in the past five years to support breast cancer research through their annual Pink Label Campaign.
The DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award pays tribute to businesses that excel in the areas of staff training and motivation, community involvement, customer service, and strategy. One finalist from each of seven regions was selected out of the 75 Blue Ribbon Award winners. The winner will be announced at an awards luncheon on May 22.
