U.S. Chamber’s Donohue Urges Free Enterprise Voters to Mobilize This November
Says Economic Growth, Vibrant Free Enterprise System Are Fundamental to Creating Jobs, Prosperity, and Opportunity
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today unveiled a Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) video message from President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue to reinforce the message that economic growth and a vibrant free enterprise system are fundamental to the cause of creating jobs and opportunity for all. Building on the Chamber’s unprecedented voter education efforts, Donohue emphasizes the importance of the business community voting in November.
“For many months, we have poured an unprecedented amount of our time, energy, and resources into the largest voter education and candidate endorsement program in the Chamber’s 100-year history,” said Donohue. “Now with November 6th almost upon us, the success of the Chamber’s efforts this cycle rest on one remaining essential ingredient—making sure that the business community and those who support and believe in American enterprise and economic freedom turn out to vote in this critical election.”
The GOTV video will be sent to the Chamber’s federation members as well as its grassroots army of business activists—more than 7 million free enterprise supporters. It will also be available on VoteForJobs2012.com, the Chamber’s digital platform where voters can find candidate comparisons, voting records and positions on key business issues as well as polling place locators and early voting instructions.
“It is a fact of life in our democracy that tens of millions of eligible Americans do not exercise their right to vote even when the stakes are very high,” continued Donohue. “We must do everything we possibly can to mobilize the pro-enterprise vote and encourage all those who own, run, or work in our businesses to cast their vote and encourage everyone they know to do the same. With strong free enterprise support in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, we can put the economic struggles of recent years behind us and create a new era of jobs, prosperity, and hope for our fellow citizens.”
