U.S. Chamber Announces New Executive Director of Brazil-U.S. Business Council
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today announced the appointment of Monique Fridell as the new executive director of its Brazil-U.S. Business Council (BUSBC).
“The Brazil Council plays a vital role in Washington promoting Brazil-U.S. commercial relations,” said Myron Brilliant, the Chamber’s senior vice president for International Affairs. “Monique is uniquely qualified to help promote the bilateral relationship on behalf of our member companies. We are delighted that she has joined our team, especially at time when Brazil’s role in the global economy has grown in importance.”
Fridell has more than 20 years of financial industry experience working in the investment banking, Latin American private equity, and alternative energy project finance sectors. She joins the Brazil Council after three years at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Her prior experience includes the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), ABN AMRO North America, and Manufacturers Hanover Trust. A Brazilian-American, Fridell is fluent in Portuguese, French, and Spanish. She holds an M.B.A. and a B.A. from The American University in Washington, DC.
Fridell will report to Jodi Bond, vice president for the Americas at the Chamber. "We are fortunate to bring a person of Monique’s stature and experience on board,” said Bond. “Monique will be extremely valuable in our efforts to expand U.S. engagement across the Americas, especially in Brazil."
The BUSBC is the premier business advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening the economic and commercial relationship between the two countries. It represents major U.S. companies doing business in Brazil.
