Fed Chair to Speak At Workforce Summit
Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben S. Bernanke will kick off the Education and Workforce Summit held by the U.S. Chamber's Institute for a Competitive Workforce September 24-26, in Washington, D.C.
Bernanke will discuss how investing in education and training impacts economic opportunity in the United States.
The conference will also feature remarks by Roy Romer, former Colorado governor and chairman of Strong American Schools, a nonpartisan organization working to make education reform a central issue in the 2008 presidential campaign. In addition, there will be workshops on the four pillars of education reform-better teaching, better data, more innovation, and better management, as well as an awards dinner.
"This summit is an opportunity for businesses to shape the public debate on education and to tell our national leaders that a continuation of poor graduation rates and test scores is intolerable," says Arthur Rothkopf, head of ICW.
