It might encompass the word “small”, but there is nothing small about the economic impact of small business. Small businesses play a vital role in our economy , employing roughly 130 million U.S. workers and exporting 97% of all U.S. goods.

Because of the high impact they have on our economy, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce commemorates these enterprises with, “The DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award,” which recognizes companies for their dedication to the principles of free enterprise and contributions to restoring jobs and supporting economic growth.  Every year, one small business has a chance to win a $10,000 cash prize and gain national recognition for their company.

Small business award programs like the DREAM BIG Award are not just about a round of applause, pat on the back, or personal gratification. They have the ability to boost a business’ reputation and increase employee moral while imparting consumer confidence about the quality and efficiency of a company.

If you own a small business, do yourself a favor and earn the recognition that you deserve. Check out our top reasons to apply now for the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award:

  • Earn free publicity. The top 100 small businesses are recognized as Blue Ribbon Award Winners and receive individual press releases from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The recognition can lead to coverage by state and local media outlets.
  • Boost employee morale. A small business is only as successful as the dedicated employees that support its mission and take pride in their work each and every day. Take the time to thank them for their contributions – it’s simple but often overlooked. Additionally, working for an “award-winning company” is a confidence booster for employees not to mention a great addition to any resume.
  • Step back and reevaluate. Small business owners wear many hats - manager, sales associate, accountant – and the work rarely ends when the front doors close. It’s important to step away from the day to day activates of running a business to take a strategic, birds’ eye view and assess every level of your operations.  Evaluate the current market, assess your competition, listen to your customers, and explore new product offerings.
  • Promote your business as an “award-winning company.”  Awards are a unique way to distinguish yourself from your competitions while giving credibility to your business and increasing your exposure in an often crowded marketplace.

But don’t take our word for it. Hear directly from our past winners about the benefits of participating in the DREAM BIG awards program.

“Winning the Dream Big Small Business of the Year award gave our brand exposure on a national stage, which created a lot of positive buzz and goodwill for our company, both inside the firm and in the communities where we work. It put some wind in our sails that I think will continue for a long time.”
