Ken Johnson

Ken Johnson is Vice President, Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In this capacity, Johnson leads the Chamber’s Democratic outreach efforts for members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Prior to joining the Chamber, Johnson served as Senior Policy Advisor to Senator Mark Warner (D-VA). In this role, he was the Senator’s principal counselor on energy, environment, agriculture, and trade issues. During this time, he worked on behalf of the Senator to introduce the first bill in the history of the U.S. Senate to eradicate food deserts nationwide. He also helped conclude a twenty-year effort to bring federal recognition to Virginia’s Native American Tribes. In addition to his work within the office, Johnson also served as the Senator’s liaison for the Bipartisan Policy Center’s (BPC) Appalachia Initiative and the Atlantic Council’s U.S. Energy Boom and National Security task force.

Earlier in his career, Johnson served as a Fellow to Governor Bob McDonnell of Virginia, on Restoration of Rights issues for convicted felons. He also worked in business development for the Transportation District Commission of Hampton Roads.

A native of Richmond, Virginia, Johnson received his B.S. in Business Management from Hampton University. He is also a graduate of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia.
