Michelle Rhee Takes on Louis C.K., Touts Common Core
Former Washington, D.C. public schools chancellor and founder of Students First, Michelle Rhee recently appeared on “Special Report with Bret Baier” to discuss the Common Core State Standards. In the interview, Rhee clarifies what the standards are (they are not a curriculum), addresses concerns that the tests are too difficult, and provides some much needed perspective on how American students compete globally.
Rhee also highlights the success of the early Common Core state adopters, provides comedian Louis C.K. with some advice, and gives her insight on whether education will be a major political issue.
Finally, she emphasizes the critical importance that education has on economic growth.
“When you want to talk about the economy in this country and how to grow the economy, you have to be talking about education. We are not going to be able to compete in a global marketplace until we have a skilled workforce."
