BusinessH2O International Business & Policy Forum
Water is a vital resource for business and a critical fuel for economic growth and prosperity. From energy and minerals to manufacturing and agriculture, water is an essential ingredient to the food we eat and the products we use every day. Yet, we are facing a major water challenge globally. Groundwater basins are drying up, droughts are becoming more common, and growing populations are overloading outdated water systems.
The Middle East, in particular, is the most “water-starved” region in the world. According to the World Bank, the region is expected to face the greatest economic losses from water scarcity with over 70% of the region’s GDP exposed to high-water stress, and 60% of the population water insecure.
Addressing these challenges will require innovation in water management and leadership from the business community.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with AmCham MENA are organizing the BusinessH2O Middle East Water Innovation Summit to tackle water issues in the Middle East by profiling major projects throughout the region and highlighting new technologies and policy solutions that can be used to alleviate water shortages.
Founded in 2016, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's BusinessH2O Water Innovation Initiative is a flagship program that brings together business leaders, government stakeholders, and water management experts to showcase innovation in water management and develop practical solutions to our growing global water challenges.
- Discuss public policy that develops and deploys innovative water technologies in the Middle East
- Highlight leading water infrastructure and resource management projects in the Middle East
- Showcase examples of government and private sector cooperation in the water sector
- Share best practices that can support good water management
