Claudia Freeland Jolin
Special Assistant, Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Economic and Neighborhood Development
Claudia currently works in the Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Economic and Neighborhood Development working on workforce development, promoting small business and the tech industry and is the liaison for Baltimore Sister Cities Initiative.
In addition, Claudia is a Master’s Student in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Claudia was a Baltimore Mayoral Fellow in 2015, where she worked on Brookings Institute’s Global Cities Initiative with the Baltimore Development Corporation. In 2013, she spent a semester at the Department of State’s Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs working on public diplomacy.
Prior to this internship, Claudia spent six years as a Korean linguist in the U.S. Navy. She has two undergraduate degrees, one in political science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and one in economics from University of Maryland Baltimore County. She has also had extensive Korean language training from Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California and Kyunghee University in Seoul, Korea. Claudia is an avid volleyball player is a member of the Baltimore Rock Opera Society, a non-profit theater company producing original rock opera epics. She currently lives in Baltimore City with her partner and energetic three year old daughter.
