On Friday, July 26th, Senior Vice President for the Americas, Neil Herrington led the regional launched of the 2019 Global Business Rule of Law Dashboard (Dashboard) during "Present and Future of the Rule of Law in Argentina," an event hosted by the USABC in partnership with the Colegio de Abogados de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires and AmCham Argentina.
Historically, the Dashboard has been a tool for policymakers and investors to gauge a country’s adherence to the Rule of Law as it correlates to the private sector. This new edition profiles 90 markets, and it includes a special spotlight on Argentina. As one of the countries that showed significant gains in the rule of law environment on the 2019 report, the event highlighted the work of Argentina’s government and its collaboration with the private sector and other partners to promote rule of law in the country.
The Forum featured Laura Alonso, Secretary of Public Ethics, Transparency and the Fight Against Corruption, Bernardo Saravia Frías, Treasury Solicitor General of the Argentine Republic, and Senator Federico Pinedo and discussed Argentina's improved ranking. Particularly, the forum looked at the significant path of reform Argentina has undertaken over the past few years to increase transparency in public processes, and encourage stakeholder engagement in policymaking. The positive results of these changes were reflected in the Dashboard and its underlying measures.
