On May 19, 2020, the U.S.-Argentina Business Council and AmCham Argentina hosted a discussion featuring Min. Martín Guzmán. During the meeting, Min. Guzmán discussed his plans to bring stability to the Argentine economy as negotiations with international creditors to restructure a $65 billion debt take place. Min. Guzmán emphasized his commitment to reach a sustainable and mutually beneficial deal and indicated the dialogue with creditors has been productive. The Minister also recognized the economic challenges Argentina is confronting due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted the country’s fiscal balance. Despite these challenges, Min. Guzmán stressed the country is focusing on continuing negotiations to reach a deal.
