Climate Change

The Chamber's position on climate change:

Climate change is a serious challenge that needs to be addressed through thoughtful policies that will have a meaningful impact. The Chamber supports efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and believes technology and innovation offer the greatest potential to reduce emissions and mitigate the negative impacts of climate change.

The best solutions are going to come from the private sector—or the private sector working together with government.

There should be an approach that does not harm the economy; recognizes that the problem is international in scope; and aggressively promotes new technologies and efficiency. Protecting our economy and the environment for future generations are mutually achievable goals.

The Chamber's position on alternative/renewable energy sources:

The Chamber has vigorously supported the production and use of renewable energy and we have consistently called for additional funding for renewable and other clean energy technology advancements. We also lead the fight to clear the regulatory, legal, and Not-In-My-Backyard roadblocks that are delaying promising wind, solar, nuclear and other clean energy projects across the nation.

The Chamber's position on the role of technology in addressing these challenging issues:

Technology and innovation offer the greatest potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the negative impacts of climate change. American businesses invest heavily in clean technology. The Chamber has routinely supported tax incentives and credits, appropriations, and stimulus funding to promote the accelerated development of these technologies.
