TO THE MEMBERS OF THE U.S. SENATE:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce urges you to support the Motion to Proceed to H.R. 1628, which would allow the Senate to begin consideration of the health care legislation passed by the House earlier this year. The Chamber will consider including votes on the Motion to Proceed in our annual How They Voted scorecard.

While good faith negotiations continue, remaining issues can be dealt with on the Senate Floor through the debate and amendment process.

As Chamber President and CEO, Tom Donohue, wrote last week: “As always, we stand ready to work with members and the administration to restore affordable access to health coverage and services, but the time for the Congress to act is now…The time has long since passed to get to ‘yes’ on healthcare, tax reform, and infrastructure investment.”

The Chamber looks forward to working with Congress, the Administration, and other stakeholders to make progress on these and other badly needed health care reform priorities. We urge you to vote in support of the Motion to Proceed so the debate can begin.

Sincerely,
Jack Howard
Senior Vice President
Congressional and Public Affairs
