WASHINGTON, D.C. —U.S. Chamber Senior Vice President Rick Wade issued the following statement in response to President Biden issuing an Executive order on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government:

“The U.S. Chamber applauds President Biden on ordering the Federal Government to take the necessary steps to ensure impartial treatment of all individuals – regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or members of other underserved groups and communities.

“Far too often, the opportunity to obtain an education, secure a job, start a business, and provide for your family is determined by the color of your skin and other biases. Systemic inequalities hurt individuals, communities, our economy, and our society. Ensuring equality is not just a moral imperative, it’s a matter of America’s competitiveness.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched the Equality of Opportunity Initiative to advance public and private sector solutions to our country’s opportunity gaps and disparities. All Americans should have a fair chance to earn their success, rise on their merit, and live their own American Dream.
