WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Chamber Senior Vice President Rick Wade issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s executive order today on racial equity:

“The public and private sectors must join hands and work together to ensure that equality of opportunity is evident for Black Americans and other persons of color. All communities should be able to fully access the benefits and opportunities of our government.

“The Chamber particularly applauds President Biden’s efforts to address the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on minority and underserved communities and close the economic divide. We look forward to having a seat at President Biden’s table to share best practices and help implement scalable programs and sound policies at the federal, state, and local level.”

Driven by data and informed by conversations with business, government, academia, and civic leaders, in July 2020, the U.S. Chamber developed the Equality of Opportunity Initiative  to advance solutions to disparities in areas such as education, employment, entrepreneurship, criminal justice, health and wealth.
