U.S. Chamber Applauds Senate Judiciary Committee Passage of Bipartisan Immigration Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue issued the following statement today regarding the Senate Judiciary Committee's bipartisan vote to move S. 744, the "Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013," to the Senate floor for consideration:

"Fixing our broken immigration system and reforming it in a way that drives job creation and economic growth has been the Chamber's primary goal. By meeting the needs of employers and better utilizing the unique talents of people here and abroad we commend the Senate Judiciary Committee on their work.

"This bipartisan legislation is a strong, positive step towards establishing a sensible legal framework and enforceable guidelines that respect the rule of law, helping protect U.S. borders, and meeting the economic and social needs of America.

“Approval of this legislation by the Committee is important and we urge the full Senate to swiftly follow suit.”
