WASHINGTON, D.C.— U.S. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President for Government Affairs Bruce Josten today issued the following statement upon Senate passage of the “Developing a Reliable and Innovative Vision for the Economy (DRIVE) Act”:

“In order to be competitive in the global marketplace and grow jobs in America, increased investment in transportation is crucial. We applaud the Senate for acknowledging the importance of long-term funding for our nation’s transportation infrastructure by passing a six-year highway funding bill.

“The product of bipartisan collaboration, this legislation is a step forward in addressing the urgent need to invest in and improve our nation’s transportation infrastructure, which will create jobs and foster economic growth and development.

“We now urge the House to develop its own long-term solution and work with the Senate to give businesses the certainty they need in order to be able to look further than tomorrow.”
