U.S. Chamber Endorses Upton’s Reelection Campaign to Congress
KALAMAZOO, MI — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce proudly partnered with the Michigan Chamber of Commerce and Kalamazoo Chamber of Commerce to announce their endorsement of Fred Upton’s campaign for reelection to Congress.
“The United States has a critical opportunity to unleash an American energy revolution by tapping into our domestic resources,” said Karen Harbert, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for 21st Century Energy. “Now more than ever, Congress needs leaders like Fred Upton who have the experience required to advance energy policies that will create jobs and growth.
Harbert continued, “Voters in Michigan’s sixth district have a clear choice this November, and the U.S. Chamber is proud to stand with the Michigan business community and Chairman Upton in his campaign for reelection.”
Rich Studley, president and CEO of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce also spoke in support of Upton’s reelection, saying, “Above all, Michigan needs jobs and as chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Fred Upton has consistently fought to remove regulatory barriers that will allow local businesses to be competitive and create jobs.”
Upton’s endorsement is the first of the cycle to be co-hosted by the national, state, and local business communities. Kalamazoo board chairman and president of Envirologic Technologies, Inc. Jeffrey Hawkins said, “We’re pleased to formally announce our endorsement of Chairman Upton for reelection to Congress in collaboration with our state and national counterparts, who also recognize the need for Fred’s steadfast leadership on creating jobs. He has remained a champion of both our district and the free enterprise system.”
This endorsement is part of the organization’s largest voter education effort in its 100 year history, aimed at highlighting candidates’ positions on issues critical to the American economic recovery.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
