WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes will present the results of a study to identify specific challenges military spouses face launching entrepreneurial endeavors; growing small businesses; participating in remote work; and reskilling or upskilling to growth industries during today’s virtual 2020 Military Spouse Employment Summit, presented by USAA.

In front of an expected audience of thousands watching from around the world, Hiring Our Heroes’ Military Spouse Programs Director Meredith Lozar will be joined by Grow with Google’s Bronagh Friel, and other subject matter experts to reveal the survey results. The discussion will outline findings from “Military Spouse Career Journeys: Examining Entrepreneurship, Remote Work, and Upskilling as Drivers of Economic Success for Military Spouses” a report authored by Burning Glass Technologies and conducted in collaboration with Google.org and Grow with Google. The event will also mark the launch of the MilSpouse Roadmap, a free digital tool designed for military spouse career exploration.

“These results create pathways that will pave the way for military spouses and improve the economic stability of military families,” said Eric Eversole, vice president at U.S. Chamber of Commerce and president at Hiring Our Heroes. “Grow with Google and Hiring Our Heroes are committed to working with partners and stakeholders to implement changes that will positively impact military spouse career trajectories for years to come.”

“Each year, we are honored with the opportunity to lift up extremely deserving military spouses and communities,” said Meredith Lozar, Director of Military Spouse Programs at Hiring Our Heroes. “This year’s class of winners is truly extraordinary and we are excited to celebrate their achievements.”

”Grow with Google is proud to work with partners like Hiring Our Heroes to lower barriers for military spouses to pursue their career goals,” said Lisa Gevelber, Vice President of Grow with Google. “At Google, I have seen the amazing resilience, grit, and adaptability of our military spouse employees, and see the value they bring to our teams. I’m also proud that Google is committing to offering paid leave benefits up to 5 days to military spouses and domestic partners experiencing changes of location due to military orders or those preparing for a deployment or activation. We hope that the research, tools, and commitments announced during the Military Spouse Employment Summit will offer guidance and direction to those who seek to empower military spouses.”
