Washington, D.C.— U.S. Chamber President and CEO Suzanne Clark issued the following statement after the passing of John Ruan III, Chairman of Ruan Transportation Management Systems:
"John Ruan III was a respected business leader in Iowa and the transportation industry, a generous philanthropist, and a dear friend to many across the American business community.
"John was a distinguished member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board for many years, including serving as chairman from 2011– 2012. He served with a steady hand and deep knowledge and experience stemming from his leadership of the Ruan family organizations. He was especially proud to serve as chairman of the World Food Prize Foundation, one of the world’s leading philanthropies dedicated to ending global hunger.
"Above all, he was friend to many and devoted to his beloved family. We hold his wife Janis and their children in our hearts as they face this time of loss."
