WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S.-Pakistan Business Council (USPBC), an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, has announced the election of Dr. Mehmood Khan as chairman-elect. Dr. Khan currently serves as vice chairman of the USPBC and will succeed Miles Young, Worldwide Chairman of Ogilvy & Mather, who has served as chairman since 2012. The board also elected Zia Chishti as vice chairman-elect.
“The U.S.-Pakistan commercial relationship continues to grow strong and is further strengthened by Dr. Khan’s commitment to the mission and objectives of the council,” said Myron Brilliant, U.S. Chamber executive vice president and head of International Affairs. “Having served as vice chair of the council, he has provided expertise and guidance in advancing our policy agenda. His experience, insight, and vision enhance our ability to achieve our goals in Pakistan. Miles has been a tremendous asset to the board and the growth of the council and we are grateful that Dr. Khan has the same level of commitment to the USPBC.”
As vice chairman and chief scientific officer for Global Research and Development of PepsiCo, Dr. Khan oversees and advises the company’s efforts to enhance environmental, human and talent sustainability. He also leads R&D efforts and sets the priorities for innovation, discovery and development at PepsiCo.
“We are indebted to Miles Young for his dedication to USPBC over the past four years,” Dr. Khan said. “I look forward to continuing to work with Miles during the transition period and with Zia and members of the Board to drive progress in the council’s advocacy agenda to bolster growth and enhance Pakistan’s competitiveness.”
Young added, “As a successful entrepreneur and founding partner, chairman and CEO of The Resource Group, Zia brings immense value to his role as incoming vice-chairman this fall. He has a vested interest in council’s initiatives that support policies toward the advancement of U.S. commercial engagement in Pakistan. The council continues to grow and its membership welcomes the wealth of leadership, passion, and energy that both Dr. Khan and Zia bring to the USPBC.”
