After two days of listening to exciting speakers, small business owners at America’s Small Business Summit set their sights on Capitol Hill to send a clear message to lawmakers—Roll Back Regulations Now!
One of the many regulations Washington is piling on small businesses is the new overtime rule that raises the level for salaried workers eligible for overtime by more than 100%.
“Many employees who are currently salaried professionals or managers are making less than $47,000 a year,” Utah business owner Maxine Turner wrote in a Dear 45 letter to next president. “They will become hourly employees, forced to closely track their hours with less flexibility in their work schedules.”
Another small business focus is pushing for passage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Ninety-eight percent of U.S. companies that export are small and medium-sized businesses.
America’s small business owners are on the front lines of rebuilding the economy and dealing with the issues that directly impact our communities and are some of the best advocates for policies that help grow the economy and create jobs.
As they visit Capitol Hill and meet with their members of Congress, these small business leaders will be sharing their experiences on social media using the #IAmSmallBiz hash tag. Check back here for updates.
