Explore the interactive map below to see just how quickly unemployment claims have risen in each state since the beginning of March. Note: Department of Labor reporting on state unemployment data lags one week behind the national data, so the claims reported this week at a national level are not yet included in these state numbers.
Update (July 2, 2020): A previous iteration of this analysis tracked initial unemployment claims data. This analysis has since pivoted to focus on the four-week continuing claims average in each state.
The interactive map will not load properly in this browser. Please visit this page with a modern browser. You can also download the data.
We will update this map every Thursday with the latest data from the Department of Labor.
