William Canary is an experienced consulting professional who has been providing organizations with practical and effective decision-making strategies, including public policy guidance, executive coaching, crisis management, and government relations for over 40 years.

His focus is to assist companies in developing priorities and implementing strategic plans that create value for the organization.

Prior to forming Canary & Company Consulting in 2018 and the Intergovernmental Affairs Group in Washington, D.C., Mr. Canary held various elected positions on Long Island, New York, served as the Special Assistant to President George H.W. Bush, and as the Chief of Staff of the Republican National Committee.

Mr. Canary has also been the President and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama and the American Trucking Associations, and a member of the advisory board for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and has also provided advisory services to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Currently, he is a member of the faculty of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Institute for Organization Management.

He is a contributing co-author of The Next New Start (2015), Unfinished Business (2016), and Time and Again (2017) and is the sole author of LEAD-ER-SHIP: No Regrets. No Retreats. (2022).

Canary graduated from the State University of New York at Oneonta with a Bachelor of Arts and received a Juris Doctor from Touro Law Center, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.

Mr. Canary and his wife, Leura, live in Montgomery, AL. Their son, Will, and his wife, Jillian "Jill" Dominick, live in Birmingham, AL. Their daughter, Margaret, and her husband, Jonathan "Jonny" Mells, live in Palo Alto, CA.
