Takao Tsukui

Takao Tsukui is Chairman and CEO of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc., effective April 1, 2026. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group is one of the world’s leading industrial groups, spanning energy, smart infrastructure, industrial machinery, aerospace and defense.

Based in Houston, Tsukui leads MHI’s operations across the Americas, overseeing regional strategy and business performance in alignment with the MHI Group’s global objectives. In this role, he focuses on strengthening customer and government relationships, advancing growth across key industries, and representing MHI in the U.S. market.

Prior to his role, Tsukui served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Mitsubishi Power, Ltd. from 2025, where he was responsible for the company's global energy business strategy and overall operations, including sales, marketing, and commercial activities for Mitsubishi Power’s global Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) business.

From 2022 to 2025, Mitsubishi Power achieved the No. 1 global market share on advanced class gas turbines for four consecutive years, while delivering consistently increasing order intake, resulting in more than 280% growth over the four-year period.

In 2011, Tsukui served as Vice President of Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. based in Lake Mary, Florida. His team achieved a record-high order intake in 2014 and successfully secured the first J-class gas turbine contract for the Americas market.

In 2006, Tsukui was the global commercial lead for MHI’s international low-BTU gas turbine business, where he was responsible for the sales and marketing of blast furnace gas turbines from Takasago Machinery Works in Hyogo, Japan. Under his leadership, MHI achieved a global market share of more than 65 percent in this segment.

Tsukui joined Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in Tokyo and began his career with the Power Systems International Operations team. Over the course of his career, he has held numerous leadership positions, driving business development and commercial operations across global markets, including Americas, Middle East, China, Korea, and Southeast Asia. In 1996, while based in Beijing, he played a pivotal role in managing power plant sales that contributed significantly to MHI’s business expansion in China.

Tsukui holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Keio University. In his free time, he enjoys golf and long-distance running.
