WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Brazil-U.S. Business Council (BUSBC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jenelle S. Krishnamoorthy, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Policy & Public Affairs at Merck & Co., Inc., as the new BUSBC Chair.

“I am honored to serve as Chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Brazil-U.S. Business Council,” said Dr. Krishnamoorthy. “The private sector plays a key role in advancing practical cooperation, strengthening innovation, and supporting policies that improve lives and unlock opportunities across the hemisphere’s two largest democracies and economies. Merck, known as MSD outside of the United States and Canada, will celebrate 70 years in Brazil next year. Our presence underscores our continued commitment to expanding and improving access to healthcare for the Brazilian population. I look forward to working with BUSBC members and stakeholders to drive a forward-looking agenda focused not only on health policy, but also on innovation, agriculture, digital transformation, energy security, and critical minerals cooperation.”

Dr. Krishnamoorthy brings deep expertise in global health policy and public affairs. In her current role, she leads Merck’s integrated U.S. and global policy and public affairs strategy, guiding enterprise-wide efforts to foster strategic partnerships and expand access to Merck’s medicines and vaccines worldwide. Since joining Merck, she has held senior policy leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President and Head of Global Public Policy.

Dr. Krishnamoorthy previously served as Health Policy Staff Director for the U.S. Senate HELP Committee, and at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, where she advanced U.S. policy in health, science, technology, and the environment.

The U.S. Chamber looks forward to working with Dr. Krishnamoorthy in her new capacity as Chair of the Brazil-U.S. Business Council.
